Numbers Farm site NOT taken forward in TRDC’s Local Plan

As our subscribers and Facebook followers will know, at a meeting on 24th August 2023, TRDC’s Local Plan Sub-Committee (LPSC) decided not to take forward the Numbers Farm site (proposed for 893 dwellings, plus a primary school), along with a number of other Green Belt sites they had categorised as ‘strategic’ and warranting consideration for housing.

This is a fantastic result for Kings Langley and for the KL&DRA, who, as part of the Three Rivers Joint Residents’ Association (comprising 12 residents’ associations within the TRDC area), has lobbied hard and worked tirelessly to persuade the LPSC to take forward a much lower number of houses in their plan, in order to protect our valuable Green Belt.

We are pleased to report that the Council will take forward a housing number of 4,852, instead of the Government recommended 11,466 homes, over the next 18 years.

The KL&DRA believe this is a very reasonable and justifiable approach, given the high level of Green Belt within the district.

The next stage of the Local Plan process will be a public consultation stage (called a Reg. 18) and there is always the chance that developers will push to have sites put back in at a later stage, but for now, Numbers Farm is out, primarily on the basis that the site is green field, Green Belt land, and that the access to the site is very poor, points which the KL&DRA argued for.

So for now, a great result, but likely to be more work to do in the future.

Speaking of which, Dacorum Borough Council’s Local Plan is also due soon – we’ll let you know more on that as soon as we know.
